Warm Your Patio With a Fire Pit Table
The design of the average fire pit is excellent for a backyard fire where most people are standing but it doesn't lend itself well to an arrangement of outdoor lounge chairs. Their design usually puts them low to ground. This is great for a large group of people who are enjoying a few beverages together but not very good for a smaller group of people who want to lounge in some comfortable chairs. For this situation a fire pit table setwould be more suited. A fire pit table is exactly that. It's a patio table that has a pit in the middle of it to contain a fire.
The table puts the fire further up from the ground making the heat more available to seated guests. A few designs only aim to raise the fire up from the ground but others have enough table area to be used as a patio table as well. Many manufacturers make models big enough to actually be used as an outdoor dining table.
You can get fire pit tables in wood burning or gas burning models. Wood is a popular choice of fuel because of the ambience it provides. There is no substitute for the crackle and pop of a wood fire but there are some downsides. Flying sparks and embers can be a danger so wood fires require an extra mesh cover. Smoke can also be a concern and many people might not appreciate going indoors smelling like a forest fire has just gone through the area. You will also need to clean the pit after use. Burning wood creates ash so that will have to be disposed of regularly. Ash mixed with compost makes a great garden fertilizer so it's not all bad.
A gas fire has none of the problems associated with wood fires so gas powered fire pits are becoming a more popular accessory. You also won't need to change your clothes right away because of the smell of smoke. A gas bottle is much easier to transport than a load of firewood and they also make a great camping accessory.
